If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
— African Proverb
The goal of the Stockel Family Foundation reflects our family’s wish to help build a world in which all people have the resources necessary to fulfill their innate potential. To do so, we seek out and support organizations that enable access to nutrition, shelter, education, health care, the arts and the natural world, all of which exert considerable influence on one’s overall health and well-being.
We primarily provide for children, predominantly those from zero to five, and their families. We’ve chosen this focus because research demonstrates that the earlier a child receives the nurture necessary for his or her development, the better the chance of success in school and in life thereafter. It is therefore a priority of ours to target children who might otherwise go without this indispensable support.
It’s our belief and aspiration that we, together with our grantees, are steadily shaping a more just society. Though the results of our joint-endeavors may often be discrete—manifesting themselves in day-to-day achievements of one individual to the next—they are not insignificant. A society is made up of individuals and, if consistent, their personal triumphs can in time inspire societal progress and potentially even define a generation.
We have high hopes both for the future of society and for the future of the Stockel Family Foundation. And, as our family’s younger generation become increasingly active in our work, we very much look forward not only to their exciting and innovative input, but also to the influence their unique outlook will have on the identity and direction of our family's philanthropic efforts.
